Who Can Apply

Volunteer Requirements

We welcome anyone with passion, commitment, and a genuine desire to serve. Here is what we look for in our volunteers:

  • Minimum Age: 16+

    Students, professionals, and retirees are all welcome. Volunteers under 18 require parental consent.

  • Communication Skills

    Basic proficiency in Hindi, Marathi, or English. Regional language skills are a strong advantage.

  • Passion for Social Work

    Genuine motivation to serve, empathize, and act in the interest of marginalized communities.

  • Teamwork Mindset

    Ability to collaborate, take direction, and work effectively within diverse volunteer groups.

  • Online / Offline Availability

    Minimum 4 hours per month. Remote and field opportunities available across all schedules.

Is volunteering free of cost?
Yes, completely free. Volunteering with LAKSHAYA Foundation involves no registration fees, application charges, or hidden costs. We may ask volunteers to cover personal transportation for some field activities, but program participation is always free.
Can students apply to volunteer?
Absolutely. Students from age 16 and above are encouraged to apply. Those under 18 need parental consent. We have student-specific programs designed to fit academic schedules and provide certificates valuable for school and college portfolios.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. Volunteers who complete 30 or more verified hours of service receive an official LAKSHAYA Foundation Certificate of Volunteering. Outstanding volunteers may also receive personalized recommendation letters on request.
Can I volunteer remotely or online?
Yes. We have active remote volunteering opportunities in social media management, graphic design, content writing, IT support, and online tutoring. Remote volunteers contribute meaningfully without any physical presence requirement.
What is the minimum time commitment required?
We ask for a minimum of 4 hours per month. However, there are no strict upper limits — many volunteers contribute significantly more. Your commitment level is respected and accommodated based on your personal schedule and availability.
Do I need prior NGO or social work experience?
No prior experience required. We welcome first-time volunteers with open arms. Our structured training program ensures every volunteer is fully prepared and confident before entering any field program or taking on responsibility.
